  OBJECT BIOGRAPHY  We have a lecture about objects biology by lecturer prasanna liyanage.We had a basic lecture first and after he gave us a activity that gp and see a table full of items. so we went to that table and see properly that items on table. their had nescafe bottle. thread , පන් වට්ටිය , කූරක් , Bracelet. and our lecturer asked for a story like murder case to create by that items on table. we had to act like a item in court. we had to tell our biography and story what are the thing we see and how i was in that table. this is the object biography the items had their own story birth to dead. after our lecturer asked to get pictures in campus choose items in that story. we get the picture and write the object biography for that otems.  : I choose පං වට්ටිය And these are the pictures i captured in university So this is the way we learn about what is the object biography HOW WE GET THE IDEA TO COLLECTING DATA IN PILOT STUDY we had to collect data in our university ...

Shaping Identity and Otherness

  Birth certificate details link with otherness  Sri lankan birth certificate different within culture to culture. the different is the only surnames , like  sinhala surnames are  Athukorala,Appuhami,Adikari  tamil surnames are Kadirgamar,Rajaratnam muslim surnames are Mohomed,Hassan,Abdullah  Our lecturer said that the birth certificate is showing otherness in this way. and she asked us why our grand fathers name only in our birth certificate the reason is the “ wathu demala people” In past wathu demala people came to sri lanka and our sinhala people don’t like to say they are also sri lankan people. so government get a decision to mark grand fathers name and citize identity in birth certificate to relate they are completely sri lankan or wathu demala people. this thing showing otherness best way. sri lankan people and wathu demala people are different things in this way and they cut off in sri lankan people.  This helped create a distinction between ...

GAADI FILM AND THING OF OTHERNESS

In Prasanna Withanage’s film Gaadi, everyday objects help show how the Rodee community is treated as different . Simple things like clothes, farming tools, and types of food are used to show the difference between the powerful and the powerless. These objects don’t just represent the differences; they help create and show the unfair treatment and separation between the two groups. This film mainly focus the two groups the powerful and powerless. so the otherness works between this groups in this family.  I choose this 2 example, 1)  The Wita Kela mark 2) The Begging Bowl THE WITA KELA MARK  In the movie, Vijaya uses the wita kela to recognize Tikiri as his wife, marking her as a member of the Rodee group. This small item, placed in her mouth, represents Tikiri as one of the Rodee people, identifying her within their community.  HOW INFORMATION MATTER TO HUMAN  first we had to devided in to groups and learn about designer thinking how the question is how information matters to humans, Our lecturer wanted us to think how a normal person makes a decision, so we made an example “What I eat today? “ First, the person identifies that he needs to make a decision on what to eat. He checks what the ingredients he has are carrot, noodles, rice etc . Then, he thinks of other information that can help him decide, such as the weather-it's hot or cool , so he wants something light and what he ate last night was rice, so he does not want to eat it again . After all the things , he decides to eat noodles since this fits the situation.  aWe then realized that this process is similar to how designers make decisions. Designers collect data, such as feedback or research, gather information, such as user needs or context, and then make decisions based on that.   Different People Thinking  All of us are like fingers on hand. No one like others. We all are different . all our thinking are different. this is the otherness. Does everyone think the same way? Of course not! Every one has his or her way of thinking, and we can saw this different all the ways in social.  one day my brother gave me an LED strap to put on my wall in my room. He really likes bright, colorful lights, and I know he was excited to give it to me. But when I got it, I didn’t feel the same. I don’t like bright colors or flashing lights. I like calm and simple decorations for my room. always i like to be in calm vibe.  That show how everyone thinks differently – what my brother likes, I may not, but other person can like it . I might not enjoy the LED lights myself, but knowing he thought it would make me happy, I appreciate the gift because of that. But I don't think I will ever really like the colorful lights.
